Creating a successful partnership between Spectrum Sight & Sound, the builder and the homeowner requires a structured approach that ensures collaboration efficiently from the design phase through to the execution and after-sales support. By streamlining the process, we can bring value to the homeowners by saving time and money through proper upfront design and communication.
1. Initial Consultation
Our goal for the initial consultation is to understand both the builders and homeowner's goals and expectations for the home. An upfront discussion about the products and services we can bring to the build is crucial to the success of the home’s technology ecosystem. In our initial consultation, we will discuss the extent of home automation required. Whether a simple home system is wanted or an expansive integrated system linking AV, lighting, security, motorized shading, HVAC and much more, we will work to create a system custom designed for the homeowner.
2. Design and Planning
Once a proposal is created, we will work together to finetune equipment selections. Once approved we will create a timeline for the project, outline responsibilities and expectations, along with contract and payment terms.
Home automation systems should be planned as early as possible during the architectural and electrical design phase. By working with all parties, including the architect, interior designer, and electrical contractors, we can take into consideration specific design needs. Customizing solutions based on the collective vision, the selection of the right architectural AV, lighting and shading products will enhance the overall design of the home.
When needed we will submit specifications, wiring plans, architectural drawings and other needed information to the needed trades and design team.
3. Installation Coordination
Regular site inspections ensure that pre-wiring and space allocations comply with the planned automation systems and meet the timeline of the project. Scheduled installation phases aligned with the building progress, e.g., pre-wiring, device installation, and final integrations, will be coordinated with the builder and other trades.
Because of the value and fragility of some of our products, we prefer to be one of the last trades on the jobsite. We will conduct testing of systems components and the integrated operation of the whole home automation system.
4. Project Handoff, After-Sales Support, and Maintenance
Once the project is complete, we will walk through the system by giving a demonstration to the builder and homeowner to explain the functionality and benefits of the system. There are always adjustments to be made to fit the needs of the homeowner. These include setting scenes such as lighting and shades that simulate occupancy, party scenes that set the mood with music and LED colored lighting, and even a goodnight mode to set the home for night-time by turning off lighting and setting the homes alarm system for the evening.
We offer a 1-year labor and installation warranty on our projects. All product warranties follow the manufacturer’s warranty for repair or replacement. This is outlined in the project contract terms and conditions.
Spectrum Sight & Sound is dedicated to our clients. Should there be anything that needs to be addressed after project completion, we are here to help.
